The forces at work in the world of technology are creating a challenging situation for IT organizations. The evolution of SaaS, Cloud computing and Business process outsourcing are creating an environment that allow IT customers to bypass IT departments, and allows these external providers to stack the deck against internal IT organizaitons. Understanding the finances of IT is pivotal to properly positioning IT as a partner in both internal and external discussions, ensuring the decision is the optimal long-term decision, rather than just an expedient solution.
