CIOs and executives have been burned by expensive data warehousing (DW) and BI activities that have failed to deliver clear tangible business value. Over-focus on technology, weak ownership, and lack of accountability and engagement by business sponsors are the cited causes. Yet in the Gartner Executive Program’s Annual Study, CIOs rank BI consistently in the top two priorities for four years running.
