Organizations are in the midst of the most significant IT transformation in the past 20 years as layers of abstraction are being inserted throughout the IT stack, including the virtualization of hardware and applications in next-generation data centers and the move toward service-orientation in the design and development of applications. All of these will require new approaches in identity and access management (IAM) — from advances in externalized user authentication and authorization using claims to the expansion of identities into logical containers of workloads, applications and services. This presentation discusses why, how and when IAM will evolve to support these initiatives.
