Sam’s introduction to outsourcing came in 1990 when, as one of the six founders of Ross Perot’s signature company, Perot Systems Europe Limited, he initiated and drove to conclusion one of the largest European outsourcing deals of that time with East Midlands Electricity (£600 million contract value over twelve years).
In 1994, Sam joined Science Application International Corporation (SAIC) as their Regional General Manager South East Asia. During this time, he led a consortium of suppliers which successfully outsourced all of British Petroleum’s IT and Telecommunications facilities in the Americas.
From SAIC, Sam joined Oracle UK as the Vice President of Consulting and was promoted to Senior Vice President on the basis of strong business performance. This was followed by a move to EDS to take up the role of Vice President and Managing Director for UK Financial Services. Sam was later promoted to the position of Vice President and Managing Director EDS Commercial Sector UK and Ireland. In 2003, he stood down from his line management role to act as the pursuit leader to win one of the largest application development and maintenance outsourcing deals awarded ($1.5 billion over seven years) with Vodafone Group.
Prior to joining T-Systems, Sam held the position of Vice President and General Manager, Global Strategic Outsourcing for Unisys.
Sam holds an honors degree in Chemistry, Master of Science in Polymer Science and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Polymer Science. He is a Fellow of the RSA, has co-authored several scientific publications and holds a number of technology/process patents.
