Stewart Mixon, Chief Operations Officer for the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) – a stand along academic health care center – has oversight responsibilities for the Business Services, Human Resource Management, Public Safety and Risk Management functions. Stewart has led major systems implementation teams and is the team sponsor for MUSC’s Teamworks implementation.
Stewart has made numerous presentations to national, regional and local groups on subjects to include: “Developing Your Professional Career”, “Coping with Disaster”, “The Risks and Rewards to a Decentralized Applicant Tracking System” and “Developing Successful Human Resources Professionals”.
Stewart is a past president of the College and University Professional Association for Human Resources (CUPA-HR), an association that serves more than 9200 human resource professionals in over 1600 colleges and universities. During his year as president, Stewart established two major goals for the association – to enhance professional development activities for higher education HR professionals and to develop a CUPA-HR knowledge center. Stewart has served CUPA-HR in various capacities since 1996 and has been a national member of the Society of Human Resource Management since 1992.
Prior to joining MUSC, Stewart served the University of Florida and East Carolina University in various human resources positions.
