Jackie Fenn is a vice president and Gartner Fellow Emeritus in business innovation and emerging trends at Gartner. She works with organizations to define and apply best practices in innovation, including assessing innovation maturity, creating an innovation or emerging technology group, driving a culture of innovation, and defining an innovation process. She also advises leading enterprises on how emerging technology and societal trends will transform their business, with a particular emphasis on the three- to 10-year time horizon.
Ms. Fenn has created numerous models and frameworks for examining trends and technologies, and she is the originator of the Gartner Hype Cycle model, which has been adopted by news media and other organizations worldwide to explain how technologies move from hype to disillusionment and beyond. Her book "Mastering the Hype Cycle: How to Choose the Right Innovation at the Right Time" was published by Harvard Business Press in 2008.
