After completing a PhD at Sheffield University, Dr. Andy Rawlins joined the Research Councils as Associate Programme Manager where he spent 12 years running various university grant funding schemes. In 2003 he moved into IT within the Research Councils, developing his interests in hardware and storage. The Research Councils have recently come together to create a Shared Services Centre (RCUK SSC Ltd) centralising back-office systems for all the Research Councils. Dr. Rawlins leads one of their IT Infrastructure teams. He is currently working on implementing an off-site DR/Service Continuity facility built around SSCs new Compellent SAN infrastructure.
