Paul Conocenti
SVP, Vice Dean, and CIO, NYU Langone Medical Center

Paul Conocenti is a Senior Vice President, Vice Dean, and Chief Information Officer of the NYU Medical Center based in New York City. He is responsible for all Information Technology activities for the Medical Center for both the NYU Hospitals Center (Tisch Hospital, Rusk Rehabilitation Institute, Hospital for Joint Disease, and the NYU Clinical Cancer Center), and the NYU School of Medicine (Faculty Group Practices, Research, and Education) . In addition to his CIO responsibilities at NYU Medical Center, Mr. Conocenti is the Chair of the Technical Committee of the New York Clinical Information Exchange (NYCLIX). NYCLIX is a Regional Health Information Organization (RHIO) which serves the Hospitals of the New York City area. He is currently heading the implementation of new innovative technology which will connect NYC hospitals and link into the National Health Information Network (NHIN). . Paul is an experienced Information Technology executive with over 30 years of information technology and management experience. A reputation for developing a strategic vision, and a plan, that is aligned with business needs and organizational capability engaging all levels of the organization to provide practical system solutions that migrate the information technology environment toward a strategic future state. Previous to becoming CIO of the NYU Medical Center he headed all Information Technology system activities for Mount Sinai NYU Health System, an Integrated Delivery System (IDS) comprised of six hospitals (Mount Sinai Medical Center, NYU Medical Center, Rusk Institute, Hospital for Joint Disease, NYU Downtown Hospital, and Mount Sinai Queens Hospital), two medical schools, various care-continuum businesses including Ambulatory Clinic Services, Ambulatory Surgery Centers, Ambulatory Cancer Centers, Ambulatory Rehab Centers, Home Care, Faculty Practices, and an MSO of over 800 physicians. The split/de-merging of Mount Sinai NYU Health System resulted in outsourcing many parts of IT and much experience in how to create an enterprise IT group, as well as how to pull it apart equitably to support a separation. Prior to Healthcare Mr. Conocenti spent 25 years in the Financial Sector. He previously held global responsibilities as the Global Head of Risk Management Systems at Credit Suisse First Boston, Deutsche Bank, and Citibank. He has also served as Chief Architect for the development, implementation and maintenance of new information systems at both Citibank and Merrill Lynch. A background that combines an MBA, in Information Systems and Operation Research, with hands on experience in computer programming, vendor product implementations, systems integration and architecture, information technology infrastructure, operational process improvement, and senior level management. This background provides an executive with a deep appreciation of when to build, buy, or integrate systems and how to build, manage, and direct a team to deliver it. Mr. Conocenti is a motivated executive with a track record for leveraging existing technology to deliver strategic systems while building a strong team.
