George Westerman is a Research Scientist in MIT Sloan’s Center for Information Systems Research (CISR) and faculty chair for the course IT for the Non-IT Executive. His influential research and teaching examine executive-level management challenges -- such as IT risk management, innovation, and IT value -- at the interface between IT and business leaders.
He is co-author (with Richard Hunter) of the new book The Real Business of IT: How CIOs Create and Communicate Value. Their previous collaboration, IT Risk: Turning Business Threats into Competitive Advantage was named one the ten Best Books of 2007 by CIO Insight magazine.
In addition to research, George frequently conducts presentations and workshops for executives around the world. Prior to earning his doctorate at Harvard Business School, he gained more than fifteen years of experience in IT and corporate management.
