The initiative is a reporting, analysis, and performance management environment that currently supports all levels of Boeing Defense & Space Financial operations (1/3 of Boeing). The project was motivated by the need to improve & optimize business management processes/capabilities at reduced cost. It is managed by a functional team reporting to the Division CFO that engages finance stakeholders to define a range of supported business decision & analytic processes. Technical support is provided by an IT team that works for the functional team. BI capabilities are provided by a Cognos 10 BI suite, and information infrastructure consists of a data warehouse and surrounding processes. User support is provided by a distributed network of support focals led by the functional team. Major investments have been made in staff, BI, DW, and user support infrastructure, yielding a project which serves 3,600 users and is undergoing a final consolidation into a Boeing-wide entity.
